DAT OP. It's finally looking properly shounen-ish...!
This episode felt really different from the first season, which makes me very happy. :D The animation is more fluid and the adaptation is excellent. Also, since this adapts the very first chapter of the manga, it's perfect for introducing new viewers. (Hint hint...I hardly know anyone who's into this series and I feel so alone. D:) Because for some reason, the first season skipped the first chapter; it started right off with the second chapter, which was pretty much a terrible decision. I was introduced to the series through the anime, so it wasn't until I read this chapter in the manga that I really understood why Rikuo was so resistant to becoming the heir at first...knowing that, and his reasons for finally accepting the role, is what makes him a sympathetic character, IMO.
Another thing that's different from the first season is that the pacing is much faster. The first season tended to be slow and stretch things out with filler, to the point that a couple episodes were so boring that I nearly fell asleep while watching them. >_>; This season...seems to be going the opposite direction. The next episode preview has me worried, because it seems to be introducing Jami and the Keikain onmyouji. The Jami story in the manga was three chapters. The Keikain story was seven chapters. So possibly covering ten chapters in one episode...?? o__o; Also, the anime as a whole will be 24 episodes, which means they'll have to fit 87 chapters into the next 23 episodes. Well...there are a lot of action scenes, so hopefully it won't be too rushed...
Anyway, I'm all for pretending the first season never existed, and I'm still excited for the rest of the show. KEEP THIS UP, PLZ.
Ikoku Meiro no Croisée Episode 1
OMG I LOVE THIS SHOW ALREADY. *_______* I can't remember the last time I was literally brought to tears by how sweet and charming a show is. Everything is so damn pretty and there is actual legit spoken French! The culture clash is fun ("Why does she bow like some slave girl? Why does she keep apologizing? Why won't she speak her mind?!"). XD I'm already loving how Claude & Yune's relationship is developing and how they're slowly learning from each other. And seriously, I COULD NOT STOP SMILING (except at the halfway point when I was going "AHHHHHHH! D:").
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Also, I WANT MORE.
In related news, Kirsten linked me to the first episode of Uta no Prince-Sama and it was...better than I expected? XD Not sure I'd watch more, but it managed to entertain me! And I'm pretty impressed by the streaming quality on Nico Nico so far. I APPROVE and look forward to watching more anime on there!
