-Apparently there were many female fans attending the event.
-Animators and Ootsuka-san were selling goods and announcing the starting time themselves
-One of the exclusive goods was this badass Simon totebag:
-Bathroom break was 15 minutes long and there was only one bathroom for men & women respectively. This was on the wall of the bathroom:
"That is the limit of you Spirals
Fuhaha, you couldn't even hold it in?"
-The video eyecatches were shown for the first time; they apparently weren't shown at the Fukuoka event
Impressions of the videos themselves:
-Sources all say they can't say much without it being spoilers
-"The sense of Wonder" is definitely a tearjerker, but the story is hard to interpret? One Simon/Nia fan says she was brought to tears just because it was so clear how much Simon and Nia loved each other.
-From a Kamina/Yoko fan: "Though it's only usual that official works aren't very kind to Kamina/Yoko fans, this time they were honest about that" (Not quite sure I read that right...)
-From the Simon thread: both Commander Simon and old man Simon appear in Inu Curry's video
-After watching this, Parallel Works 1 seems very mild in comparison.
Also, apparently Kiyal's character song from "Kiyal's Magical Time" will be played on tonight's radio broadcast. I'll link that later when it's up. :O
And I asked my friend who attended the event whether she can confirm that the song used for "The sense of Wonder" is sung by I's CUBE, but she said she doesn't know who sings it. Oh well.
EDIT: Forgot to post this before, but these t-shirts were also being sold:
The guy from the 2ch thread posted his event report. There's not much about the actual videos (he says that would go into spoiler territory which would be bad for the staff), but I found some of his observations amusing so I translated a few of his comments:
"-The audience was mostly fashionable women in their 20's. Why.
-For the magical girl one, there were voices from here and there among the female audience saying "cuuute." This surprised me because I thought that one was targeted to men, but then the TV series also had Yoko's sex appeal, so there must be many people who are okay with that.
-When the event ended, it had passed the closing time for Mandarake (20:00), so we had to take the emergency stairs from the 4th floor.
-Gurrepala 2 was at times sexy, made me laugh, had me absorbed, or made me not sure how to react
There was one that if it was a stand-alone project, I would never touch it."
And more on "The sense of Wonder"- it's Gurren Lagann but not like Gurren Lagann. It can be enjoyed as its own separate work.
From the Nia thread- Akemi Hayashi talked about how she spent a lot of time with the photographing staff near the end to get the coloring of Nia's hair just right.
EDIT 2: The song from Kiyal's Magical Time! 16:36-17:58.
...OMG this is so friggin cute. :D The song is called "Miracle Idol Star."
Okay, so I asked my friend what Inu Curry's video is about.
Her reply: "It was very artistic, and there wasn't much of a story. It was like Simon and Nia meet and then it's over. There were some rather brutal images too. But as a video it was quite good."
And someone posted a very detailed event report on the 2ch thread (though with all spoilers removed). Here are some tidbits from it that I found interesting:
-They were giving out the new Rakugaki Core Drill doujinshi again, but Manabe asked everyone not to put any images on the net so as not to spoil it for people going to the Tokyo event who are looking forward to it (so I guess that's why we haven't seen anything from it yet).
-During the 15 minute break, Manabe was doing some advertising. When he presented the Super Modeling Soul figures...
Manabe: Sorry to keep you waiting! Here's 4th arc Simon!
Audience: Thank you~!
Manabe: We wanted this too! If these sell, more goods could come next. Like Anti-Spiral, Kittan, or Lord Genome.
From the Q&A session...
-Q: Will there be a Gurren Lagann 2 or Gurrepala 3?
Ootsuka: We have to make other works too. So we'll be bringing it to an end with Gurrepala 2. Still, like with how Top wo Nerae got a sequel after ten years, something different wearing Gurren Lagann's name might be made.
-Yoshinari helped Sushio make Kittan Zero
-Q: Why does Rossiu have so few appearances in the Parallel Works?
Hayashi: It depends on whether the character is easy to play with. In the original story, with how the drama was done there wasn't much room there either.
Viral is very easy to play with. He's in The sense of Wonder a little too.
And I forgot to mention before, but Kakihara and Inoue were talking about seeing Parallel Works 2 on the radio show. Kakihara said "It was incredibly high quality." Marina said she only saw one of them, but she thinks that it was awesome enough to match Studio BONES. They said it's like a concentration of GAINAX's power, and makes you think that GAINAX is really amazing all over again.
