I might change my mind after I listen to the song more and see the animation in better quality, but it certainly doesn't help that it follows after "Period," which I personally consider a really strong OP.
New ED: Shokotan delivers! ♥ I love the song, and I love how it follows Hohenheim's story up to the present with his sons. I don't mind that the animation is mostly still shots because it looks beautiful anyway, and that style worked for "Let it Out" well enough. Can't wait to hear the full song!
This episode has SO much gore and nightmare fuel. Seriously, seeing those things animated, with color and movement and sound, just makes it worse. D: And the part where Sloth squishes that guy made me cringe because you can really get a sense of how that guy gets totally flattened. *shudder*
The part with Envy and Mei was ridiculously well-animated. (Somehow I get the feeling that BONES really loves Mei, both for her humor and acrobatics.) In contrast, I thought they were majorly saving up on the animation budget with the scene between Al and Heinkel (lots of slow zoom-in shots), but that worked just fine for that scene so it's not a problem.
I liked the addition of the Marcoh & Yoki scene. Now they won't just appear out of nowhere later. (Similarly, I liked how they added scenes in previous episodes to lead up to Mei's reappearance here. It feels a lot more natural now.)
And for the final few minutes of the episode I was at the edge of my seat just screaming in my head:
OLIVIER VS SLOTH FTW! ARMSTRONG SIBLINGS FTW!!!
HAX!AL FTW! AL~~~~!!! BADASS!!! *_____*
Oh, and the first eyecatch made me LOL. XD The combination of the "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" zombies and the giggling voice was just priceless.
