I'll get my biggest grievance out of the way first, and I'll probably be alone on this.
I don't like Al's voice.
Now, I'm not judging any of the performances based on how close they are to the first anime. In fact, I didn't want Brotherhood!Al to sound like the first anime! I want Brotherhood!Al to sound like manga!Al and that was not manga!Al to me. He sounds like as much of a baby as in the first anime. "Uhh uhh umm" SPEAK UP, BOY! Gawd, I could barely hear him at times. NOT. HAPPY.
Isaac = Ladd Russo. He was good in the role, but CAN'T UNHEAR AGH.
WTF blank thought bubble? If they're going to erase the Japanese text, shouldn't they at least insert some English text to replace it? Hopefully that'll get fixed for the DVD.
Kimbley. D: He doesn't sound like a "smooth criminal" at all.
ARMSTRONG. ♥ "That's unexpected" LULZ
Roy is good. "What do you think of my flames now, you bastard?!" ♥
Don't really like Riza's voice. I dunno, she sounded too snarky and bored rather than exasperated. And honestly, at this point I'm not sure how she's going to pull off the more dramatic scenes later on.
Bradley is good.
Hughes is good.
Ed is okay, though I can never accept Vic's Ed as my inner Ed voice. He kinda sounded more badass than usual, which is good. However, his kid voice is still AWFUL. Mom was sitting near me while I was watching and when it got to the flashback, she said 「すごいコメディーに聞こえるんだけど。」She thought it sounded like a comedy. :/
Overall: Not happy with some performances because they seem stuck in the first anime characterizations. Hopefully it will improve.
