Re: FMA Episode 14

Well, it's been a while since I've reviewed an episode. I might not have said much about it here, but I have been enjoying the new anime very much every week and overall I think it's come together really well since episode 4.

Though, for episode 13, while I did enjoy watching it on its own, it failed pretty hard as an adaptation. Episode 14 made up for it a little, but episode 13's rushed pacing and cut scenes really made the story arc less effective than it should have been. They gave us barely any time to get to know Greed and the chimeras, and the removal of Ed going to South HQ created plot holes (How did Bradley know about Greed being there? If Ed was still in Dublith, why didn't Al tell him about the note before going to Devil's Nest by himself?). And there was no muscle bonding, which was especially sad considering what happened in the latest manga chapter. ;__;

But anyway. Episode 14 was much much better, and made for a great end of the first season. The animation quality alone was amazing. :O

I liked this added scene. It made Roy's transfer to Central feel more complete. And at least it gave some explanation as to why Bradley was in the Southern Area at all.

I might be mistaken, but is this the first time an Ouroboros has appeared with the episode title?

Hahaaaa I liked how this was animated. XD

I'm disappointed there was no "ZUZUZUZU" sound effect. :(

I am so happy with the fight scenes in this episode. Nearly every shot of Bradley was pure badass. All the speed and movement and swords flying everywhere... *__* Oh man, I hope they do as good of a job with the Ling VS Bradley fight later on~!

I appreciated how they kept all the blood and gore. What a brutal episode. D:
But this, along with how they kept Barry slicing that soldier's head open in episode 8, gives me hope for seeing Gluttony get maimed over a hundred times. I'm not sadistic, honest! It's just that Gluttony isn't Gluttony if he isn't the cannon fodder of homunculi.

I thought this was a great addition. :D Nice to know that they pay attention to details like this. Sooo creepy seeing through that thing's eyes...

Also, this episode clearly had the highest budget since episode 1. Just wow.

I have mixed feelings about this scene. :/

Another nice addition! It ties in nicely with Roy and Armstrong's conversation in the restroom later (which they will hopefully keep).

I'd like to take a moment to squee over the beautiful cityscapes again. Eeeee. *__*

I see they took out the crucifix here too. Well, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised since they already changed the star in the Ouroboros.

Ohhhhhh my god this was AMAZING. *____*

Ah, Selim. You look so innocent. ^^; I'm not very fond of his new voice...he sounds too girly IMO. But I suppose I should reserve my judgement until you-know-what is revealed.

Also, they changed Bradley's last line to Selim. "Then maybe I'll have you help me in the future." HAHA NICE.

Next episode preview:

Yaaaaaay Panda Time! :D
Apparently Mei is going to be meeting up with Scar and Yoki in the next episode already. I guess I wouldn't be surprised if they skip Youswell entirely, but hopefully there will at least be a brief flashback via Yoki. However, MEI'S OVER-THE-TOP FANTASIES MUST BE KEPT. D:<

Hmmmm not sure how I feel about Scar VS Silver Alchemist being done so early. I'll have to wait and see how it turns out. In any case, it certainly looks like there will be alterations involving the parts with Scar, Yoki, and Mei.

Here we see Riza letting go of a leash. Which probably means she's walking Black Hayate. OMG, this will be the first time we see Black Hayate in this anime. O__O Kinda hard to believe they haven't introduced him at all until now... Is she going to sic him on Barry? XD;

Next episode is when this anime will really take off, so if you're behind, now is the time to catch up! :)
