Holy hell. It sounds like they actually included everything I wanted to see. And then some. Holy hell, Gainax.
I mean, even if the kiss doesn't actually happen, I'm happy to see that they were about to. It just kinda bothered me in the TV version how they were presented as the OTP of the series but didn't have a single kiss or hug until the very end, whereas Kamina/Yoko got EXTREME CLOSE-UP. (Yeah, I understand that the Kamina/Yoko kiss was very important while a Simon/Nia kiss would be superfluous because their feelings are already obvious. It's a petty thought, I'll admit.)
They actually added stuff from the 7-year gap! I wasn't expecting this at all because I thought they wouldn't have enough time (they certainly didn't in the TV series)! Does this mean we might get a Viral spin-off OVA after all? And Kittan's sisters mourning his death! Oh my god. I'm boggling over how they're including so many things that didn't properly make it into the TV version.
They even have SOLVERNIA. SOLVERNIA!!! (According to Kazuki Nakashima, this is apparently the official name of Nia's personal mecha that first appeared in Yoshinari's illustration.) What used to be just a fan's hopeful dream has become reality!
And Nia being the one who delivers exposition with writing a letter and giving her diary to Yoko...her will and role as the heroine is being given proper attention. And the fact that Anti-Spiral tells them she will die, which means that they'll have to consciously make a decision all out in the open, and Nia possibly playing a large role in that and having an epic scene...
And my favorite part of the 3rd novel was all the insight into Simon's thoughts. So seeing more of his mindset during the 3rd arc, actually in animation? And him seeing Nia transform right in front of him. ;__; I was hoping for something dramatic like that. I want to see his reaction. Gawd, was this movie tailor-made for me or something?!
And the flower theme... Ahaha it's kinda similar to one of my fic ideas, have I been jossed again? I'll also have to wait to see Solvernia in action before writing about it now...
I know it's way too soon to say before actually seeing it myself, but from what I've read, I...I might actually end up liking this movie more than the TV series itself. I never thought that would be possible.
Anyway, I guess I'll continue posting more interesting details from 2ch as I see them. I'll keep this post updated:
-Simon doesn't leave the ring at Nia's grave, but keeps it hung from his neck (AHHHHHH ;__;)
-Dayakka's "My wife is best in the universe SWING" is apparently still included and more fired up than before
-There is a lot of talk about being different people and how Nia wants to know more and that her dreams are her own
-This film is apparently from Lagann-hen. ?!?!??!!? Please tell me it's from the scene where Nia transforms...
-Btw, it seems Simon is the one shown holding a baby in one of the parallel universes. BAWWWWW GAINAX.
-And I suppose I should explain the "Solvernia" name. I'm actually not sure if that's the correct romanization, but in Japanese it's ソルバーニア (sorubaania) and most likely is taken from "soba ni iru" (by your side); fitting, since they got Nia's name from the word "near."
-From the Simon thread: "Bridegroom Simon patting Lagann before the wedding must have been him saying farewell...now my tear glands have gone Tengen Toppa." ;______;
