I think I've come to the conclusion that food services are pretty much out of the question for me. They all require months of training and I can only work here for the summer. Today, I decided to check out this used bookstore that someone at the Writer's Group recommended for me, saying that they're in need of help. Indeed, there was a bright red "Help Wanted" sign in the window when I got there. So I tell the guy at the counter that I'm looking for a summer job. Immediately, he tells me that I can't be hired because training takes two months.
What the hell. How much training would I need to work in a used bookstore?! I was really hoping I'd get this one too; a bookstore sounds much more appealing to me than a restaurant. And at this point I'm wondering if ANY place would be willing to hire just for the summer. I wouldn't know, I've never had a job. ...Turns out there was a Japanese steakhouse called Sakura next door, so I went and applied there for the heck of it. I took full advantage of the fact that I probably know more Japanese than all of their employees in my application (some of the girls were wearing Chinese dresses, WTF). And hey, my middle name is Sakura. Maybe I'll be lucky and at least get a phone call. -__-
