You see, I have these four little bottles in my room that I bought a couple of years ago at Pier 1 Imports for no real reason other than they looked cool. Likewise, I have a bunch of other kitchen utensils that serve no purpose besides decoration. (It's a habit of mine to look at things and go "oooh, what a pretty plate!" or "I must have that lantern!" or "look, this bowl is made in Portugal!!") So now I finally had an excuse to use them.
I really had no idea what I was doing at this point- randomly, I put a mixture of ground and whole cloves in one blue bottle. Then I mixed together ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and ground nutmeg. The resulting powder had a very strong odor and tasted...odd. This I put in one of my clear bottles and corked it tightly shut.
Next, I made a mixture of paprika, ground sage, and white pepper. This was a very WTF combination, because they're all different colors: orangish red (like chili powder), light green, and white (looks a bit like sand). The resulting powder was very...weird. Light orangish beige, and rather spicy. I poured this into the other clear bottle.
For my remaining blue bottle, I was thinking of making a mix of different seeds (cumin, celery, sesame). But once I caught a whiff of the cumin seeds, I just couldn't bring myself to contaminate it with anything else. Honestly, I think cumin is my favorite spice other than cinnamon. Its scent sends me straight to heaven. Mmmmmmm. So all I have in that bottle is a handful of cumin seeds.
All the while, I drank tea and listened to my musical muse. It was a very strange experience. Now I have a sensory overload and am somewhat inspired. Hopefully I can make progress tonight after Writer's Group. And if necessary, I can always just open up a couple of bottles to overwhelm myself with inspiration. ^_^
