Kino

very true

My inner child is ten years old today

My inner child is ten years old!

The adult world is pretty irrelevant to me. Whether
I'm off on my bicycle (or pony) exploring, lost
in a good book, or giggling with my best
friend, I live in a world apart, one full of
adventure and wonder and other stuff adults
don't understand.

*sob* I'm going to be a senior. I'll be able to vote in another year. That's insane, people! What is going on?! Things are moving too fast! Slow down! I need to SLOW DOWN!
I DON'T WANT TO GROW UP!!!

thoughts and notes to self

First of all, just wanna say that I'm really loving my Haibane Renmei soundtrack. It fits any mood, isn't noisy or distracting, and is very very pretty. Perfect to listen to while reading, eating, doing chores, etc. I especially love "Blight," "Wondering," "Ailes Grises," and I've become rather fond of "Toga" as well. ^^ My only complaint is that "Blue Flow" isn't on there...
Speaking of which, I've gotta finish collecting the anime. There I was taking it easy, spending my money wisely, and then I discovered Kino's Journey and suddenly it was like, whoah, where'd my money go? On top of that, I've made up my mind to start collecting Wolf's Rain too...
I think the main problem is that, beautiful and fascinating as it is, the series didn't get really interesting until the second DVD. Unlike Kino, which got me so hooked that I didn't hesitate at all in buying the collectors box right away. But hopefully they'll be selling some cheap, legitimate DVD's at Otakon.
Some other anime I'm interested in picking up include King of Bandit Jing (I must see whether the TV series is as AWESOME as the OVA) and Hellsing (everybody loves vampires!). Both are short, 13 episode series so if I feel I want to collect them, I don't have to use as much cash and shelf space. I've also heard nothing but good things for Kaleido Star, Last Exile, and RahXephon, but they're rather long and I'm already planning on buying all of FMA once it comes out (despite having all the fansubs on CD- it's just THAT good).
However, my highest priority when entering the Dealer's Room is getting a L'arc-en-Ciel CD and the Kino no Tabi ~Their Memories~ book w/ CD (the closest thing we'll ever get to a soundtrack -_-). Only afterwards will I spend what's left of my birthday money on DVD's, CD's, T-shirts, and random merchandise. *nods*
So now that I've got that all planned out, what to do about my costume? I've been thinking of cosplaying as Kino, with perhaps a carboard Hermes to drag along. But once I started making a list of what to buy/make, I realized...this is going to be one complicated costume. There's a lot of detail in Kino's costume...like, the bottom of her brown coat is shredded, there are 4 green poaches on her belt, buckles on her jacket and pants sleeves, a holster and clip for the cardboard persuaders, white muffler thingies on her hat, and depending on whether I go as novel!Kino or anime!Kino, the color of her clothes are different. And I'd feel shame as a fan if I do a half-assed job of it. Somehow...I don't think it'd be ready in less than a month.
Another option is to dress up as Reki from Haibane Renmei. I wouldn't have to cut my hair, and all I have to do is find the right color clothing and make the wings and halo. The fact that it's so simple is a plus, but would anyone recognize me? And even if anyone did, since I've only seen half of the series, I wouldn't be able to have much of a conversation...
Are there any characters in FMA that I could cosplay? I don't like wigs or dying my hair, so the blondes are out. The military costume is really complicated, and other people would probably do a better job anyway. Lust is a definite NO. Envy...mmm...nah. Izumi sensei, I'm saving for my mom (if I can convince her ^^). Hmmm. Trisha Elric is simple and a possibility. I could be mommy to all the Ed cosplayers. ^^ Yeah, Trisha I can do.
So it's either dress up as a dead person, or go without a costume. Again. *sigh*
Well, there's always karaoke...
