So the 4th Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood OP, "Period" by CHEMISTRY, was played on a radio show.
Download! (Song starts at 2:30)
I have to say this is another strong opening. It sounds really cool and catchy and I find it fun to sing. It has great potential to be another epic OP when put together with visuals. *_* Of course, what makes me really happy is that the lyrics were written for Ed & Al in this period (haha) of the story. And it fits!
And so, I tried transliterating it. The bolded words are parts I'm really not sure about.
( Transliteration )
And then I tried translating it, and oh my god. Things that sound like they make sense in Japanese seem incomprehensible when put in English ahaha. ^^; For one thing, I'm not sure what "period ni" is supposed to mean, so I just made a guess. Needless to say, you shouldn't take this translation as completely accurate. It's just for a very general understanding, and I'd appreciate any help in completing this.

EDIT: Fixed! It should be more accurate now. :D

So, "Golden Time Lover" is going to be the third OP to Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I admit that when I first heard the title, I was skeptical whether it was even going to fit the show at all. But then the song was leaked on the internet, and I found it to be quite catchy. It grew on me with every listen. But the lyrics were kinda hard to understand just by listening, so I was still unsure whether it actually fit.
Then I found someone on Nicovideo had attempted to transliterate the lyrics. And upon reading it, I suddenly fell in love. The song is epic and perfect to the point that I already place it among my other favorites, "Again" and "Let it out." Good, fitting lyrics go a long way in making me appreciate a song; this is why I loved "Again" after hearing the whole thing, and why I'm not as impressed with "Hologram" even though it's really catchy and I love the animation.
I thought I'd try to translate it so other people can see why it's so perfect. Here's a link to the full song itself.

ShukumeiGattai: argh, I want to finish this drama CD translation already, but I just can't figure out what they're saying in some lines D:
Metric Minute: D:
ShukumeiGattai: ...wtf
ShukumeiGattai: I just figured out one of them
ShukumeiGattai: well of course I would have never heard of the Japanese term for the friggin Heart Sutra!
ShukumeiGattai: I barely know what that is in English!
Metric Minute: XDD
EDIT: Aw, to hell with it. I can take liberties with one or two words, can't I? :/
EDIT 2: Finally done!

Some interesting things I learned from research while translating Gurren Lagann stuff today:
-I noticed that Enkidu has an attack called エンキラッガー that Viral tries to use in Gurren-hen (it wasn't named in the TV series). I wondered how I should romanize it and started to research it. Turns out the crest thingy on Enkidu's head is itself called エンキラッガー and the attack involves him pulling it out and using it as a weapon. Then I found out that this crest thing was a homage to Ultra Seven. Ultra Seven has an attack using the crest on its head called the "Eye Slugger," which has also been incorrectly referred to as "Ice Lugger."
So in the end, I decided to go with "Enki Lugger." :)
-In the second drama CD, Viral refers to Rossiu using the phrase "osore iriya no kishibojin." (恐れ入谷の鬼子母神) Looking up "kishibojin," I found out that's the name of a Buddhist goddess. First reaction: "What the heck? How do I translate this??" I continued looking and eventually found this. Turns out it's a play on words. The basic meaning is "to be awed/amazed." "Iriya" is an actual place in Tokyo, and "Kishibojin" is the deity of a famous temple in Iriya.
So not only have I gotten that figured out, but I've found an online databank for Japanese proverbs! \o/ SUCCESS!
EDIT: This drama CD makes me so hungry for ramen each time I listen to it. D:
First of all, NISHIGORI FUCKING DELIVERS!!! HELL YES!
Second, I found a detailed review of the movie. Source is here.

HEY KIRSTEN, LOOKS LIKE WE DON'T HAVE TO FANSUB IT ANYMORE! Way to go, FUNimation! :Db
Now I want to squee shamelessly about the OP theme for a moment. (You can find the full version for download over here.)
The more I listen to it, the more I am convinced that this is going to be one epic OP. It basically blows "Melissa" out of the water for me (I know, it's an unfair comparison, times being different and all, but "Melissa" has never made me feel as much as I do when I listen to "again"). In terms of theme, I think it fits perfectly. The lyrics make me envision numerous specific scenes and dialogue from the manga. YUI puts a lot of feeling into it, like she's really singing from her heart.
I love how it starts out soft and reflective, then builds up to a feverish, frantic rock sound, with the lyrics going at lightning speed and almost stream-of-consciousness in how they sometimes don't even bother to finish a thought before moving on to the next. It properly sets the tone of being both regretful and forward-looking.
Transliterating it was a lot easier than I expected, though I probably got a few things wrong anyway. But I wanted to at least try getting across the feel of the song because I...I just really love it. XD;

EDIT: This is totally random, but whenever I see someone abbreviate Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (FMA:B), I always see it as "FMA" followed by an emoticon sticking its tongue out. I...think I'm just gonna continue calling it plain FMA.
...Dammit now I can't sleep I'm too excited.
EDIT 2: HOLY SHIT. New official art. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. \O_O/
Hmm, the singer's voice gets a little annoying at times, but overall this song is quite pretty and fitting for the series. *_*
I attempted to transliterate it by ear. I think I got some parts wrong (which is why the translation isn't complete yet), so if anyone could help, I would really appreciate it!

Also, this was shown at the end of the late show version of the Soul Eater finale a couple of hours ago. Hee. :D
EDIT: Ripped the song into an mp3. Enjoy!
EDIT 2: Fixed the translation! I think it should be pretty much complete now?
Yes, I have read Chapter 92, and I'll post my thoughts on it later. But I wanted to get this done first. Because from my observation, there's been a lot of speculation on the new anime in English fandom, but not as much actual information compared to what's known in Japanese fandom. So here's some translations of various magazine interviews from this month and last month.

I love how even if Nia isn't actually present, Simon still occasionally says and thinks things that manage to be utterly romantic.
Also, the term "space tsunami" will never cease to amuse me. XD
Fuck you, Lord Genome. Fuck you and your endless stream of kanji that I have to make sense out of to translate into somewhat-intelligible sci-fi gibberish, just so the other characters can be confused and ask for a simpler explanation. "Quantum Recognition Directivity Fluctuator" my ass.
At least I'm not the only one having trouble with it. I asked my mom to read out this stuff to me a couple of times and she got such a >:( look on her face.
I mind as well get started on this now while I have some time and before I forget again. :O It's been a while since I've translated any manga, so my style might have changed a little (hopefully for the better).
Page 36/42 done. Yeahhhh I suck.

Does anyone know what the hell パネェー means? :/
I don't think it's important enough to translate, but it would be nice to know for the future.
I use this icon too much, I know.
EDIT: YES! FINALLY GOT THE SHIPPING CONFIRMATION!
PV is out. While I'm not altogether impressed with this song, especially compared to "Sorairo Days" and "happily ever after" (or even "calling location"), I thought I'd translate the lyrics anyway since it's not too difficult. Of course, I'd still appreciate any critiques.
Also, is anyone else getting Simon/Nia vibes from the video, or am I just too obsessed? ._.
( Lyrics, romaji, and translation )
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH BEST CHAPTER EVER. I AM DYING FROM AWESOME.
( FJIOAJFOAJFUSDHGAOIHJFAOIFJA:OFIjApFOjaifA )
LOL, it just occured to me that unless you've seen the chapter, this chat log must look incomprehensible.
EDIT: TRANSLATIONS ARE IN THE COMMENTS.
EDIT 2: ( Spoiler for Chapter 81 & 82 )
So I've been reading on the Nia thread at 2ch that Shouko Nakagawa's new song "calling location" might have been written for Gurren Lagann, so I went looking for it. After one listen, I am in love, and fully convinced that this song is about Kamina & Nia from Simon's POV, much like "happily ever after."
I couldn't resist trying to translate it. But I don't have the lyrics, so I transliterated it by ear. There's one part that I couldn't get entirely, so if anyone could help, or give any input on my translation, I'd really appreciate it. Here's the song.
( Romaji + translation )
EDIT: OMGYES. IT'S OFFICIAL. "calling location" is a sequel to "happily ever after"! *___*
EDIT 2: Found the lyrics~ So I've fixed the translation accordingly now. :)
Well, I've got some spare time now, and I need to work off this frustration. And this chapter seems pretty easy. Mind as well translate some of it. :/
