I said I'd write up what I found funny/interesting from the commentaries, but altogether that's like four hours of material holy jeez so I'm going to translate the interviews before that to make it easier on myself since they talk about a lot of the same stuff.

(However, I will say that my favorite part of the cast commentary is when they talk about cool it is that Arc Gurren-Lagann cracks its neck like a person, but that you could actually injure yourself that way, and that devolves into a discussion of what it'd be like to have a mecha with a neck cast.)

Dunno if I'll ever finish that Gurren-hen commentary. It was somewhat doable on Youtube, but figuring out how to fansub on top of that feels like too much work. D:

  • 17:07:04: The only conclusion (besides OOCness) is that SoPHD!Nia is a little insane herself. But love can do that to people.
  • 17:12:11: Also there's only so much you can expect from someone already teetering on the edge of Spiral Nemesis. If letting him be selfish...
  • 17:12:48: ...for once keeps him from destroying the universe, that does sound pretty reasonable.

  • 23:04:50: As much as I love it, I can understand most peoples' dislikes about Lagann-hen. But it's not like it was made to replace the TV series.
  • 23:07:53: I mean the manga and novel versions have their differences too. Why not just enjoy the good aspects of all of them? No need to get angry.
  • 23:18:14: Come to think of it, my personal headcanon stays pretty close to the TV series while including details from all the other versions.
